Emerging Queensland Telco - Allegro Networks will draw on the wisdom and insight of one of Australia's best football coaches to officially launch it's Business Continuity Program to the local business market next month.

Queensland Rugby Union coach, Ewen McKenzie has achieved remarkable results over the past couple of seasons, converting the Reds from easy beats to bench mark performers in the revamped Super 15 Rugby Competition.

"The ability Ewen McKenzie has shown, particularly this year, in preparing the Reds for such a wide range of scenarios has been really impressive," Allegro Managing Director, David Waldie said.

"As in business, not everything on a football field goes according to plan. There are things you can control, and things that you can't, which makes business continuity planning and disaster recovery such a critical area of sustained performance."

Mr Waldie said one of the major lessons learned during the January floods was the importance of having a "Plan B" for Internet, voice and data services.

"Every business, regardless of its size and complexity, in this day and age has some level of reliance on the internet," he said. "Whether it is the day to day communication or the storage of business critical information, contingency plans are essential. When the carrier fibre infrastructure was flooded, many companies lost connnection to their networks.

"Allegro networks operates one of the few communications networks that were not impacted by the floods. Our network operates from high sites and not via underground cable or wires. This makes our network a perfect back up plan for mission critical connectivity.

Allegro will officially launch its Business Continuity Program at a special breakfast, featuring Ewen McKenzie, on Thursday, July 14;
