A Carrier Grade Network
As the custodian of licensed WiMAX spectrum covering 16% of the Australian population Allegro is honour bound to make best use of it. We have done that by designing and building a world class WiMAX based network infrastructure that:
- operates at cutting edge speeds
- incorporates redundancy for fault tolerance
- is scalable to accommodate growing demand
- allows us to offer our customers path diversity for their network traffic for guaranteed continuity in the event of link failure
In short it is carrier grade.
Our Network Architecture
We use a multiple ring architecture initially scaled to 400Mbps per ring with the capacity to upgrade as shown in the following diagram.

This architecture has the following advantages:
- Implied N + 1 redundancy
- Self healing
- No loss of capacity during a failure event
- Supports “Business Hours” maintenance
Network Coverage by 30 June 2008
The 16% of the Australian population that we will cover by 30 June 2008 encompasses an area of Queensland stretching from Noosa in the North down to the Gold Coast in the South and includes Brisbane. The exact extent of coverage can be seen in the map below.
